Care of Pups Here at Bayou Bacon, our pups are raising in our home with our children, other pets, and lots of love. Between 24 to 48 hours after birth, our pups have their dew claws removed by a licensed veterinarian and are examined. Our pups are dewormed with panicur at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks of age. They are given their first booster vaccination at 6 weeks. Pups do not leave until they are 8 weeks old. Studies have shown that well rounded dogs stay with their mother and littermates a full eight weeks before they are adopted. Puppies who leave sooner develop bad habits are mature later. We like to wait until our puppies are at least 6 weeks old before allowing our customers to choose their pup. This allows the customer to get a feel of each pup's personality and drive before choosing.

Deposit Information Starting at one week of age, Bayou Bacon Retrievers will begin to take deposits to reserve your spot in line. This will insure that you have a spot in line to choose a puppy in the order of the waiting list. The price of the deposit will vary, depending on the price of the litter. Usually, we ask for half down but different arrangements can be made if discussed prior to the deposit due date. Deposits are non-refundable. This means, if you choose not to get a puppy from the litter in which you have the deposit on, you can choose to put that deposit toward the price of a pup in a future litter, or forfeit the deposit. However, if something happens to the puppy while it is in out care, we will offer a future litter or your money back.

Health Guarantee |
Buyer Agreement |
We offer a 72 hour health guarantee against puppy illnesses. If you bring your puppy to the vet within a 72 hour period and your puppy dies of a puppy illness, we will give you a full refund. However, you must have written proof from a licensed D.V.M. This does not include coccidia as coccidia is an illness that can be brought on by the stresses of a new home, being away from mom and siblings, ect.
We also offer a two year guarantee against any type of hereditary diseases. Mind you, this will cover hip displasia. However, if you push your young dog to jump, retrieve, etc before the age of two, hip injury can cause the onset of displasia and you will need a written vet documentation stating that this is not the case. In this case, we will replace your puppy with another puppy from a future litter. |
As the buyer of one of our puppies, you are not only getting a new dog, you are gaining a whole new extension of your family. We expect updates on said pup, including photos and exciting stories! Just know that you are getting our grand puppy, not just any ole dog. In return, we will be here with any support you may need. We offer breeder support throughout the lifetime of your pup. If for any reason you have to get rid of your dog, we will take him/her back. If you move locations, you are to update your address and phone number with us. No, we aren't stalking you, we are simply trying to keep in contact with you and know where our babies are. We expect our pups to stay on an adequate diet, not some cheapo dog food and we expect you to keep up with their vaccinations and monthly flea and heartworm prevention. We do this for all of our dogs and expect the same for our pups.

Registration Agreement All of our puppies will come with an AKC puppy application. On the date of pickup, we will assist you in filling out your AKC application. We require you to have a check made out to AKC or fill out the credit card info on the papers and we will send the registration application off for you. This insures that all of our puppies will be registered properly. We require our Kennel name to be present in the Registration name of the puppy. Example: You want to name your puppy Buck. The registration name should be Bayou Bacon Buck or Buck of Bayou Bacon. Something of that nature works. There is a fee if our name is not included in the registration name of the puppy.
